The Douglas DC-10-30/40 models are a long-range wide-bodied aircraft utilized by Northwest Airlines beginning in the 1970's with the -40 series until the 2000's with the -30/30ER series. The DC-10's were primarily utilized on overseas flights both in Asia and Europe. The -40 series were powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT9D-20 series engines with a thrust rating of 50,000 lbs of thrust per engine. The -30 series were powered by three General Electric CF6-50C2B series engines with a thrust rating of 53,000 lbs of thrust per engine. The -40 series were phased out in the mid 1980's with the -30/30ER series flying until 2008.
