Devin Caliri OUCH!! Hard landing indeed. Guess I'm a bit outta practice. Actually, I don't fly that big bird that often. I aim to change that though.
Devin Caliri Oh, I had to redo this flight because I didn't have enough fuel the first time with 256,000+ lbs. I had taken the full load (gross weight) to and with that amount of fuel I was 26,000 lbs overweight. I put 301,000 lbs of fuel in the second time with the full payload (75,000+ lbs overweight). Guess what? with the weather, I was going to end up very very close to running out but probably running out of fuel so with 4 hrs left I removed the extra weight and turned off weather til I was near the approach. I ended up making it with 30,000+ lbs of fuel which is about perfect, all things considered. Anyway, I use the Simmer's Sky Boeing package for the some of the heavies. I used the correct aircraft for the flight. It holds just over 301,000 lbs of fuel. Any suggestions? I use Capt. Sim for the 757 series and the 727-200. This isn't the 1st time I have run out. Previously when I was with vNorthwest, I ran out of fuel in a 747-400 on a long flight fully loaded (with the listed gross weight, of course). Now, I know the aircraft will take off overweight and I can burn enough fuel in a trip to land within limits, but 75,000 lbs? Is the gross of my airplane wrong or is the listed payload?
Mark Toler Thanks for the comments and info....SVP
